Where To Find Out About Upcoming Dog Shows

When you are a member of the RNSWCC, you will receive a journal each month which will have a section advertising upcoming Dog Shows.

Your journal contains a listing of dog shows to be held in the coming few months under the heading 'SHOW�AND�TRIAL�DATES'

Before you enter your dog, there are a few things you will need to know.

Types Of Dog Shows

In your State or Territory's Canine journal you will see published a number of show schedules inviting members to enter in several types of Dog Shows which are explained below:

A Championship Show

A Championship Show is for registered dogs at which challenge certificates are awarded. Challenge certificates are awarded for the best dog and bitch in each breed. Points are accumulated towards your Australian Championship title. This is the most common form of Dog Show.

An Open Show

An Open Show is for registered dogs at which no challenge points towards your dogs Australian Championship are awarded but at which dogs who already have their Championship can compete.

An Open Parade

An Open Parade is for registered dogs at which no challenge points are awarded and dogs with their Championship cannot compete.
The usual type of Show is the Championship Show.
The Open Shows and Open Parades are much less common.
